WORKING WEEK HOLIDAYS AT GAUNTS HOUSE

Are you a little short of funds this year and perhaps unable to afford your usual holiday away?  Then coming to Gaunts on a Working Holiday may be the solution.  If you enjoy fresh country air, tranquil surroundings, glorious countryside and good, healthy vegetarian food mixed with fine, friendly people, come along and help out in the gardens and grounds.  We are in the process of rebuilding part of the wall in our Victorian walled garden, and we have woodland, a large lake and formal gardens, all of which need to be tended.  You would have to be prepared to get your hands dirty, and maybe find that you have a blister or two, but the joys of the great outdoors will outweigh any possible discomfort.

We have a small gardening team, often joined by people of all ages who come to Gaunts on the WWOOF scheme.  There is a friendly atmosphere, and, if you know very little about gardening, it doesn’t matter as you will find that our Head Gardener Michael and his assistant John have much knowledge to impart having spent years tending the soil.

Your accommodation will be in a small, single room, and all your meals will be taken with the community and staff who will be pleased for you to join in with any activities they may have arranged.  We would ask that you work with the gardeners from 8.00 am until 1.00 pm for the six of the seven days, have lunch, and then the rest of the day is free to do as you wish.  Bournemouth, Poole and the Purbecks are nearby, so as well as being here, you can also enjoy a seaside holiday.

What a wonderful opportunity, and all for £85.00.  If you would prefer to camp then the cost is slightly reduced.  If you would like further information then please call us – we can probably arrange a week at any time so don’t delay, make your plans and hasten to Gaunts!

Work involves gardening, clearing and restoration. Daily task time is around five hours which leaves plenty of time to explore the house, grounds and local area.

You will need to bring toe-protective footwear, warm all-weather clothing, a towel, and a sense of humour! Room and full board at £90, or Camping and full board at £50 for the week. We look forward to welcoming you!
